Constitution of Markets for Internet TV
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of the paper is to present an analysis of implications of Internet on broadcast TV. The fundamental question addressed in academic and political discussions is whether Internet TV will substitute for or merely be a complementary platform to traditional broadcast services. On basis of technology-, marketand media-based and policy arguments, it is substantiated that the latter point is more valid and that we are witnessing a process of complementation where terrestrial-, cableand satellite-based means of broadcast transmission are supplemented with Internet-based video transmission. The challenging question is, consequently, how the processes of complementation between more traditional and Internet-based TV will develop and what this means for the constitutions of markets for Internet TV. In the paper, an analysis of this question is offered, taking as theoretical point of departure the structuralist concept of articulation.
